Cartridges

Sintered stainless steel cartridges, unlike cylinders, cups and discs, are produced by isostatic compaction, and hydrostatic pressure allows the obtaining of homogeneous parts, even long and thin-walled ones, which is not possible in conventional processes, with use of uniaxial compression.

BRATS has been producing these cartridges locally, at the Cajamar plant (São Paulo). There are different sizes, and, if necessary, specific dimensions can be produced by manufacturing the corresponding tooling (bag).

As with other filters, the opening (pore size)can vary from 0.5 to 50 microns.

BRATS has technology to provide assembled assemblies, where the porous cartridge is welded to flanges/fittings, so that the component can be mounted directly into a line or tank.

As these sets are supplied on demand, different designs can be manufactured, using flanges/connections such as SMS, TC, DIN, bayonet, double o’ring, etc. Threads can be according to user specification.

Sets like these can be used as spare parts, being compatible with Donaldson, Dominick Hunter, Spirax Sarco, Parker, Pall, GKN systems, among others.

Sintered stainless steel filters, in the form of cartridges, combine precision in terms of opening (pore size) with excellent mechanical and corrosion resistance.

They are essential in the food industries, in facilities such as those used in dairy production, for example, where the precise retention of particles enables the generation of so-called “sanitary steam”.

They can also be used in pharmaceutical industries, introducing oxygen into culture media. Bubblers (spargers) are also used in the production of beverages, with the common use of nitrogen (N2) for atmosphere adjustment, or carbon dioxide (CO2) for carbonation.

Cartridges like these have a long useful life and can be easily cleaned and sterilized by autoclaving.
