Porous Parts

Sintered porous elements, in the form of hollow cylinders (tubes), are used, for example, in processes involving gas bubbling in liquids(sparging), beverage carbonation, tank oxygenation, nitrogen purging and flame extinguishing.

The latter, flame extinguishing, is an important application in the field of welding, being used as porous elements in flame arrester valves. They are produced in different sizes and with various openings, from 0.5 to 50 microns.

Sintered porous discs are versatile and can serve various applications, such as supporting membranes, filters for hydraulic equipment, exhaust media in explosion-proof electrical equipment, exhaust component in foundry moulds, bubblers (spargers), etc.

A great advantage of this format is the possibility of mounting, through mechanical interference, on another metallic component, making the assembly ready for installation.

Just like the cylinders, there are different sizes offered, from 5 to 300mm, with thicknesses from 2 to 20mm, and openings (pore size) from 0.5 to 50 microns. The diameter can always be adjusted to actual needs using wire or laser cutting.

The applications for porous elements in the form of cups have been increasingly diversifying, many of them similar to cylindrical ones (small tubes), such as in beverage gasification, oxygen injection in fermentation processes, nitrogen purging in beverage and food packaging, sensor protection, syrup flotation (sugar & alcohol), catalyst recovery, etc.

These porous cups can be mounted on connectors or flanges by brazing, welding, or interference fitting, allowing for a quick and secure assembly. The porous cup can be machined to, for example, produce a thread on the open end.
